How Long Does It Take To Install An Aircon?

Looks like that your old air conditioning system is giving you a hard time. Whilst a repair is an excellent option to get things right before summer knocks on your door, it may be possible that your air conditioning system is way past its prime years. In that case, you might want to get it replaced.

But how long will the installation of a new aircon take? You do not want to be stuck in the middle of summer waiting for the replacement to be installed. Well, let us find out the answers to your air conditioning installation question in this blog.

Factors Affecting The Installation Time Of an Air Conditioning Unit

The answer to how long it takes to install an aircon is not the same for every house, office or other facility. This is because neither every location nor every air conditioning system is the same.

Keeping that in mind, here are several factors that can affect the installation time of your air conditioning unit.

Location

The location of the system matters a lot. And this is more important in the case of an outdoor unit, which can be in difficult places. The difficulty level determines the time it will take to install the system.

Distance

The distance between the outdoor and indoor unit is crucial in determining the time it takes to do an air conditioning installation service. The greater the distance is, the more piping would be required, which would take more time.

Unit Size

The size of both the outdoor and indoor units can change the time it takes to install them. The heavier it is, the more labour would be required to get it to the desired location and, thus, more time as well.

Unit Type

The type of the aircon system you choose to install is also important in determining the time it takes to install it. A wall-mounted air conditioner is straightforward, easy to install and takes less time. On the other hand, ceiling ducted or concealed systems are more complex, so they are bound to take more time to install.

The Existing System

Chances are you are getting your old system replaced. And your old system also determines how long it takes to install an aircon. If the type of system you installed previously and the type you are going for the replacement are the same, it can take less time. However, if not, more time would be spent to make room for the new type of system.

Expertise of Your Chosen Service Provider

The last factor that influences the time it takes for an air conditioning installation is the expertise of the installers. The more experience they have, the less they are likely to make mistakes and vice versa.

How To Install an Aircon System

Whilst a repair may take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours, you might have to wait a little longer for a replacement. Air conditioning installation can be divided into the following stages:

Stage 1 – Preparation

This stage involves preparing the site for the system’s installation by overviewing the system’s location, size, type, etc. Wall hacking is a part of the preparation stage, which takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

Stage 2 – Piping Installation

In this stage, the system’s pipes, such as refringent and drain pipes, are installed. The wiring is also installed at this stage, and it takes 60 to 90 minutes.

Stage 3 – Indoor Unit Installation

The next stage involves installing the indoor unit, which will take 30 to 50 minutes.

Stage 4 – Outdoor Unit Installation

Once the indoor system is installed, the installers move to install the outdoor system. This can take about 70 to 90 minutes.

Stage 5 – Testing

Once everything is in place, the installers will test if the aircon unit is functioning correctly. This can take 30 to 45 minutes.

Stage 6 – Guide

This final stage is where you will be guided through the unit’s different features, modes, temperatures and settings. This will take up to 20 minutes.
